First Update!

So I have been slowly coming along with my research, I don't have too much to report at this time except I am now in contact with Inland Glass & Aluminum Ltd./Aluminum Curtainwall Systems Inc. and they have agreed to set up an appointment with me to give me some information that will help me with my project.

Inland Glass & Aluminum Ltd./Aluminum Curtainwall Systems Inc. is a local company here in Kamloops BC. They do manufacturing AND installation of curtainwall sytems. I am really excited that they have agreed to meet with me because I really want to get local businesses involved. It also provides an opportunity to make my project even more "green" by cutting out transportation costs.

I think the next step is to contact some Photovoltaic Suppliers and hopefully be able to get some information from them as well.

Cheers,

~Samantha

  1. Hey Sam, I worked as an apprentice glazer for a few years and have had a lot of experience working with curtain wall systems. If you have any questions feel free ask me. Also I might be able to get you some websites that may be able to help with your research.

  3. I would like to come along to your meeting with ACS. We are also planning a field trip there soon with the third years and if you would like to come along that would be cool.
Also, I came across this article today and thought of your project: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/05/facade_in_beijing_integrates_solar_into_worlds_largest_led_display.php

  4. Hey Sam, I was looking over information for your project and came across a site that is related to your research. The link is http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-9793807-7.html . You may want to further research the company "Konarka". They are trying to develop a transparent, flexible solar panel that could be placed on a piece of glass or integrated into a window. You can get to the Konarka website through my link. Hope that helps!
